India's Malik champ at open golf c'ship

India's Amaradeep Malik emerged the champion at the 113th Sri Lanka Amateur Open Golf Championship of the Sri Lanka Golf Union (SLGU) sponsored by United Tractors at the Ridgeways yesterday. He had a total of 281 (71,7071,69) - two shots ahead of his nearest rival, Simarjeet Singh also of India, who has won this title earlier.

Malik had a superb round of 69 yesterday which helped him to clinch the title after being placed third at the end of the third day.

Vikram Rana, also of India, who led the field on Day 3, faltered yesterday for a round of 75 to finising third tying on 283 with fellow Indian player Simarjeet Singh, who had a round of 70 yesterday.

The best among the Sri Lankans were Mithun Perera (son of the famous Nandasena Perera) with 284. K. Prabagaran from NEGC had a total of 285, while J. J. Kumar and Tissa Chandradasa finished with 287 and 289 respectively.

Close on their heels were N. Amarapathma also on 289, B. A. Sanjeewa (292) and B. A. Rohana (293).
