A global conference on corporate management where top world personalities are expected to address will be held in Colombo from May 26 - 28. Around 500 delegates mostly local and foreign members from the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants' (CIMA) are expected to participate in the conference.

CIMA -Sri Lanka Division President, Claude Perera told a media briefing that eminent personalities such as the former Prime Minister of Malaysia Dr. Mahathir Mohammed, Cricket legend turned politician Imran Khan, Founder/Managing General partner of Galleon Group Raj Rajaratnam and other eminent persons will address the gathering.

The others include Priyan Fernando, pioneer of the low cost airline, The Creator of Air Asia, Tony Fernandes, INSEADS Deputy Dean Prof. Arnoud De Mayer and President and CEO of Semb Corp - Ms. Loh Wai Kiew. The three-day conference is part of the international CIMA calendar which will give a tremendous boost to Sri Lanka's tourism and travel sectors.

The CIMA President said that the global business climate changed every five years or so and the business community has to keep abreast of these changes.

Referring to Sri Lankan labour, he said human capital was more important than any other capital as it could not be easily replaced. CIMA had decided to invite Asian leaders this time owing to common business practices that exists among Asian countries than western practices which were different.

The Chief Executive Officer of Sri Lanka Telecom (SLT) Shuhei Anan said the SLT was glad to be the strategic partner of the CIMA conference as both organisations exerted influence on a larger section of the community.

The SLT provides communications to the nation whereas CIMA serves the nation to create professionals. Referring to the theme "Passion for Perfection " he said the topic was timely as the market place was no longer within the borders of a small country such as Sri Lanka.

Isuru Tilakawardena of the Sri Lanka Insurance Corporation, the principal sponsor for the event handed over the sponsor cheque to CIMA President Claude Perera.

SLT Chairman Shuhei Anan handed over the strategic partnership to Claude Perera.
