Aussie kids walk raises AUS $ 20,000

A walkathon participated by more than 750 pupils from Kindergarten to year 6 was organised by a network of ten schools in Australia to raise money for more than 5200 students in Sri Sumangala Boys College and Agamathi Balika Girls School in Panadura last month.

The Castle Hill School alone raised more than AUS $ 13,000. Other schools comprised Castle Hills High School, North Rocks Public School, Cherrybrook Public School, Cherrybrook High School, Oakville Drive Public School, Roselea Public School, Pennant Hills Public School, Beecroft Public School and Epping High School.

According to Principal of Castle Hill Public School Bryan Mullan, the event was organised by the student representative council with the help of teachers. "I'm knocked out by the work the children have done and the support they have received", he said.

The joint target for all the schools that participated was AUS $ 20,000. The target was fulfilled.
