Gateway athletes continue to excel Gateway International athletes continued to excel at the Borella Circuit Meet where a number of top boys' schools such as Royal, Ananda, Nalanda, and D. S. Senanayaka colleges and girls schools like Bishop's, Musaeus, Ladies and St. Bridget's participated. Gateway College won nine first places, six second places and four third places. Natalie Fleming and Shayanara Sembukuttiaratchi were over 19 and under 19 champions respectively. Natalie Fleming, Madushika Gunawardana, Harshini Indrarathne, Shayanara Sembukuttiaratchi, Vinidu Subasinghe, Gayan Darmasiri won first places in 100-metre hurdles and 400 meter hurdles over 19 girls, 1500 and 800 metres under 17 girls, discus throw under 19 girls, 3000, 1500 and 800 metres under 19 girls, 400 metres under 19 girls high jump under 17 boys respectively. Natalie Fleming, Harshini Indrarathne, Tharanga Gunasekera, Gayan Darmasiri, won second places in long jump over 19 girls, javelin throw and putt shot under 19 girls, long jump under 11 girls, high jump under 17 boys respectively. They were also placed second in the 4x100 under 19 girls relay. Romesh Ramachandran, Vijini Dahanayaka, Aishath Zarina, Ricado Fernando won third places in putt shot over 19 boys, high jump under 13 girls, high jump under 19 girls, high jump under 13 boys, respectively. |
