China goes for more investments in Lanka

Following the visit of Minister of Industries Anura Bandaranaike to China, Chinese investors have shown a heightened interest in investing in Sri Lanka.

The Board of Investment of Sri Lanka (BOI) recently co-ordinated the visits of two investment delegations from Shangdong Province last month and another delegation is expected this month.

The first delegation, led by Vice Director General of Textile Industrial Development, Department of the Shangdong Provincial Government consisted of several leading textiles/machinery manufacturers of the province.

The delegation started its program with a visit to the BOI office, where they were briefed on the investment climate and on opportunities in the textile industry. "The delegation showed considerable interest in contributing to our very buoyant garment trade" said Rear Admiral Terence Sundaram, Deputy Director General (Promotion) and CEO North East Regional Office, after the briefing.
