School Heads to be charged by Chamitha Kuruppu The Presidential Investigation Unit (PIU) on Grade One admissions will soon hand over recommendations to the Ministry of Education to issue charge sheets to the two school principals who were interdicted last week. The Ministry is looking forward to take immediate legal action against the two principals as instructed by President Chandrika Kumaratunga, PIU chief A.A. Wickramasinghe told the Sunday Observer. The Ministry of Education will submit recommendations of the PIU to the Public Service Commission who will conduct further investigations. A special independent commission will be appointed by the Public Service Commission to carry out investigations. According to Wickramasinghe if the two interdicted principals, B.A. Abeyratne of Ananda College, Colombo and Ranjith Chandrasekera of Kingswood College Kandy are proven guilty they will be terminated from service. "Meanwhile, as they claim, if they have not carried out any unlawful and irregular activities they will be freed from all the charges," Wickramasinghe said. However, he critised the administration of the two schools for involving students to protest against the interdiction of school principals. " There will be further investigations to ascertain whether they are guilty or not, but why involve school children in the matter," he pointed out. "The PIU is investigating several other principals who have allegedly engaged in unlawful Grade One admissions, they too will have to face the same consequences, " Wickramasinghe said. |
