Sri Lankan chess players in All-India tourneys Two teams from the Sri Lanka's Anatoly Karpov Chess Club are in India right now playing in two Fide Rating Chess Tournaments - All India Open Fide Rating Chess Tournament from April 10 to 16 in Pune and the second one Nashik Open Tourney from April 18 to 24. After the inauguration of the first tourney in Pune today, the first round too will be played today (Sunday) starting at 11 a.m. The last round will be played on April 16 from 8.30 a.m. and the awards ceremony will be the same day at 4 p.m. Total prize money will be Indian rupees 1,000,000. The winner will get Rs. 30,000 plus trophy, second Rs. 20,000, third Rs. 12,000, fourth Rs. 8,000, fifth Rs. 5,000, sixth Rs. 3,000, seventh Rs. 2,000, eighth to 20th Rs. 1,000 each, 21st to 25th Rs. 500 each, Best woman: Rs.1,000. Best Junior (under 20) Rs. 1,000, Best under 16, under 14, under 12 and under 10 Rs. 500 each. In the second tournament starting on April 18 and ending on April 24, the prize money is as follows: First Rs. 41,000, second: Rs. 30,000, third: Rs. 20,000, fourth Rs. 12,000, fifth Rs. 8,000, 6th Rs. 5,000, 7th Rs. 3,000, 8th Rs. 2,000, 9th Rs. 2,000, 10th Rs. 2,000, 11th to 20th Rs. 1,000, 21st to 30th Rs. 700. Best under 10, under 14 and under 19 will get Rs. 750 each. |
