by Don Asoka Wijewardena The NDB Housing Bank launched the "Housing Plus loyalty card" and its official property data base titled "Property Plus" at the Galle Face Hotel. NDB Housing Bank Chief Executive Officer W.D. Barnabas said that the introduction of housing plus loyalty card and property plus were integral parts of the banks's endeavour to offer total solutions for individual housing requirements, with a range of properly structured and innovative products and value added services. Barnabas said that the task of building a house was a complex one and added that the NDB housing plus had been designed to solve emerging housing problems as it had established links with 43 companies with 130 products for the convenience of would-be developers. Referring to the housing plus loyalty card,he said that the bank's customers would be automatically entitled to discounts for a wide array of products and services. Over 130 products and services ranging from roofing products to floor tiles, pest control to engineering services would be covered by the housing plus, he said. NDB Housing Bank Director Nihal Welikala said that cost efficiency and affordability had been the important technical concerns introduced by the bank and noted that the NDB Housing Bank in collaboration with the National Building Research Organisation (NBRO) and the Centre for Housing Planning and Building (CHPB) had been instrumental in promoting low cost alternative building technology so that clients would be able to reduce construction costs by at least 30 per cent of the original estimated cost. Welikala said that to facilitate the promotion of low cost technology and to make it even more affordable, the NDB Housing Bank had also funded four slip form moulds used in technology to be hired by potential house builders. Consultant NDB and Director NDB Housing Bank, Sarath Wickremasinghe said that the introduction of property plus data base would be accessible through the bank's website. All institutions in the property development sector would be invited to make use of the data base to facilitate their search for their ideal home. He said that the property plus data base was launced as most prospective clients had been requesting the bank for availability of houses, land or apartments for sale, particularly non-resident Sri Lankans. |
