Tsunami hit
companies among CIMA award contestants
by Elmo Leonard Some companies which took part in this year's CIMA Janashakthi Pinnacle Awards contest were victims of the recent tsunami disaster, it was revealed at the awards presentation recently. President of CIMA UK Roland Kaye, in a message said that the awards demonstrate the best in leadership, management and excellence in business. The entries represent a certain depth and scope of talented financial people who deserve to be recognised. CIMA president Claude Perera recalled that last year CIMA added another prestigious event to the business calendar of activity, being the CIMA awards, in review. Consequent to the event last year, CIMA had received many congratulatory notes and accolades acclaiming the awards scheme. This had given CIMA an incentive to go ahead with this year's program, evident from the numerous applications received for this year's contest. The CIMA president thanked the business community for the confidence they placed in CIMA as a competent professional organisation to hold such a contest. CIMA wished to take their initiative for leadership building further, and this year CIMA's international conference in May would be a global business leader summit, with many Asian leaders making presentations on its theme, "The passion for perfection." The CIMA awards, recognise business leadership and acumen at several levels. CIMA believes that such recognition would ensure that not only does the business community have an awareness of leadership skills, but also the leaders themselves have carved out a benchmark for further aspirations, Perera said.
