ANCL board fetes top 45

Forty-five News Agents of the Associated Newspapers of Ceylon Ltd., (Lake House) who forwarded the most number of Classified Advertisements to the Sunday Observer after the recent re-structuring of Classified Advertisements of the Sunday Observer met at Cey-Nor Seafish Hotel, at D. R. Wijewardene Mawatha, Colombo 10 recently.


Manager, Classified Advertisements Department K.W.Upali addressing the News Agents. General Manager Abhaya Amaradasa, Director Administration and Welfare J. Vipulaguna, Director Finance Mrs Sonali Dissanayake, Chairman Janadasa Peiris, Director Development Sarath Cooray and Assistant General Manager Finance Mrs Roshini Kumaranayake are also in the picture.

They participated in a workshop and get-together to enhance their knowledge on the new restructured classified advertisement set up organised by the Management of the Company.

The Chairman Janadasa Peiris assured the gathering that he would pay attention to the ideas and proposals put forward by the News Agents while paying special attention to the difficulties they faced when selling newspapers. Finance Marketing Director, Sonali Dissanayake said that these workshops were important for the news agents to increase the flow of classified advertisements further.

Agents would have the opportunity to enhance their knowledge and expertise with regard to the restructuring of classified advertisements of the Sunday Observer.

Assistant Regional Manager (Information and Technical Engineering) Anura Tissera in his opening address showed a restructured classified advertisement form on a computer screen, in detail of the new set up and the ease in counting the number of words in a classified advertisement, and also calculating price rates of an advertisement and the reasons for introducing this new method to the news agents.

Manager, Circulation Department, Gamini Perera explained the way the new technology should be used in obtaining advertisements by the news agents in his lecture on 'Future Methodologies'.

Manager, Classified Advertisement Department, K. W. Upali addressing the News Agents showed the mistakes that occur in sending classified advertisements.

At the beginning of the workshops Abhaya Amaradasa, welcomed those present explaining the objectives of the workshop and get-together.

Regional Sales Executives and Heads of Departments of ANCL were also present.
