Governor at Boao Forum
Southern Province Governor Kingsley T. Wickramaratne who serves on the Advisory Council of the Boao Forum for Asia left for the Annual Conference 2005 to be held from April 19 to 30 in Hainan, P. R. China to participate in the Advisory Council and Annual General meetings of BFA. The theme of the BFA Annual Conference 2005 is "Asia Searching For Win-Win-New Role For Asia". The keynote addresses at the conference will be delivered by John Howard, Prime Minister of Australia, Datuk Abdullah Badawi, Prime Minister of Malaysia and Chancellor of Austria, Wolfgang Schuessel, Leekuan Yew, Senior Minister and former Prime Minister of Singapore. Governor Wickramaratne, former Minister of International, Commerce and Food and Advisor on International Trade to President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga, was invited by the Government of China to serve on the Advisory Council of the BFA. At this expert group meeting, Wickramaratne made a major contribution in the formulation of the BFA charter and the organisational structure and it was also declared that the Boao Forum for Asia was founded and the first forum be convened in 2002 to create a platform for governments and enterprises of Asian nations to improve constantly their economic judgement, their capacity for economic adaptability, growth capability, reduce risks the arising from economic fluctuations and share the fruits of economic globalisation. |
