23 killed in road accident in central India NEW DELHI, Saturday (AFP) At least 23 people were killed and 37 injured Saturday when a truck they were travelling in overturned in the sprawling central Indian state of Madhya Pradesh, a report said. The accident occurred when the truck was negotiating a sharp turn near the Kwari river, the Press Trust of India news agency quoted local administrator M K Agrawal as saying. The truck was part of a convoy of about 60 vehicles carrying followers of a Hindu priest and was on its way from the pilgrimage town of Mathura in northern Uttar Pradesh to Ambah in Madhya Pradesh. The devotees were to participate in a religious function at Ambah Saturday. The injured had been admitted to a nearby hospital, he added. |
