American Express launches 'Selects'

Nations Trust Bank, sole issuer of American Express Cards in Sri Lanka, has launched 'American Express Selects', an exclusive new privilege program for its customers, being part of the worldwide launch of 'American Express Selects'.

"The new program with over a thousand offers of superior shopping, dining and travel in 24 countries is a win for customers and merchants", said Head of American Express Cards at Nations Trust Bank, Priyantha Talwatte.

Talwatte said that the whole program operates on an easily available site at www.americanexpress.com/selects. "For example if you are travelling to the US you could enjoy car rental savings up to 25% or up to 20% off rates from National Hotel Chains, or if you are going to UK you would be entitled to 50% off hotels and in Singapore if you stay for three nights, you would be entitled to one free night and many other attractive offers around the world" said Talwatte. Similarly American Express Cardmembers who visit Sri Lanka could avail themselves of the deals being offered to Cardmembers locally.

Talwatte said that most of Sri Lanka's upmarket fine dining restaurants which hitherto had not participated in any credit card program had opted to join Amex Selects, including the Royal Thai and Longfeng restaurants at the Trans Asia Hotel, the Emporer's Wok and Il Ponte at the Colombo Hilton, the Union Bar and Grill at Hilton Colombo Residencies, The Taprobane at the Colombo Plaza, Cafe Emerald at Ceylon Continental, Stix Chinese Restaurant and Gatsby Jazz Bar at Galadari Hotel, Steak and Grill House and Golden Dragon at Taj, the Beach Wadiya and a host of other restaurants, while shops include Arena, Vogue Jewellers, the Parfumerie, Vijitha Yapa Bookshop, with hotels such as Bentota Beach Hotel, Habarana Lodge, Lighthouse Hotel, Eden Resorts and Le Kandyan, being part of the program.

For a Cardmember being able to avail themselves of benefits locally as well as in 24 different countries is a tremendous plus point and we expect to further value add to our Cardmembers through 'American Express Selects' said Talwatte.

While Selects is the latest value addition to the Amex Cardmember, other services include travel insurance up to US$ 100,000 that is issued free when an air ticket is purchased using an American Express Card. Insurance benefits include free travel accident, medical, baggage loss and travel inconvenience, with the insurance policy being automatically extended to the Cardmembers spouse and four dependent children.
