President has right vision - Akashi by Deepal Warnakulasuriya Addressing the media yesterday Japanese Government's special representative on Peace Building, Rehabilitation and Reconstruction Yasushi Akashi who visited the country for the tenth time said that the President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga had a right vision and she would be able to come to an agreement with the political parties in the South to have an any kind of mechanism to speed up rehabilitation, reconstruction and development projects in the North. He stressed the need of `some kind of mechanism' to attend the requirements of tsunami affected in the North and East. He said that even the LTTE stalwart S.P. Thamilchelvan whom he met yesterday at Killinochchi emphasised the necessity of a joint mechanism to conduct a strong coordination with the government. He also said that the any kind of joint structure would be an opportunity to identify each others' aspirations and it would also assist to think about a final solution. |
