ICFAI launches MBA Distant Learning program

by Don Asoka Wijewardena

The Institute of Chartered Financial Analysts of India (ICFAI) University launched its prestigious Master of Business Administration (MBA) Distant Learning program in Sri Lanka on Thursday.

Addressing a media conference at the launching ceremony ICFAI University Vice President Sanjay Ramachandra said that the distant learning MBA program in Sri Lanka was set up on the invitation of the Sri Lankan government and it would offer a whale of opportunity to Sri Lankans to cater to the knowledge and skills development needs of executives in today's business environment. The distant learning format had been designed to provide a rigorous grounding in management disciplines with emphasis on new strategies and managerial skills required by almost all companies in the world, he said.

Principal of the ICFAI University Pita Shyam said that the introduction of the MBA program in Sri Lanka would follow an integrated learning methodology designed to enable MBA aspirants to acquire relevant know-how and skills through several stages as it had a strong international perspective.

Shyam said that students following the MBA program would be able to understand the mechanism of the international marketplaces, becoming sensitive to cultures worldwide and acquire skills to work in international companies as ICFAI degrees had been recognised all over the world.

Shyam said that the students would also be able to use case studies in reputed multi-national companies to understand the complexities in various business, political, legal and social environments in which the business operated.

ICFAI University Marketing Consultant Lasitha Devendra said that the students of the MBA distant learning program would also be able to use e-learning facilities with flexibility of independent self study in a user-friendly computer environment.
