LHI mulls
more business in Maldives
One of the leading hydraulic and coastal engineering companies, Lanka Hydraulic Institute (LHI) is looking for more business opportunities in the Maldives. At present, LHI has undertaken a contract for physical model testing for a leading water resort in Fun Island, its Chief Executive/Director Malith Mendis said. He said that after the tsunami the Maldives was very concerned about the ground situation when building water bungalows and resorts. After the tsunami much business could be anticipated for the LHI in physical and computer model testing, measuring of sea wave behaviour, hydraulic engineering and coast alleviation assessments. LHI also hopes to undertake another project in the east coast in the reconstruction and rehabilitation projects in the Maldives, which was destroyed due to the tsunami, Mendis said. The Institute is working with a Maldives based company Land and Marine Engineering Resource Group for the purpose, he said. HS |
