increase in Hyundai - Korean Auto sales
by L. S. A. Wedaarachchi Used and brand new Hyundai-Korean Autos achieved significant sales progress last year in Sri Lanka. Following the increase of import taxes in last year's budget for cars and other vehicles of used and brand new car prices went up sharply. At present not a single vehicle importer imports diesel used cars due to the high import taxes. At a time when used car prices especially had gone up, the Korean Auto Hyundai Accent model was available in most of the used car sales centres. Most of them were sold within a few weeks due to the competitive prices compared with Japanese autos of the same engine capacity. The popularity of Korean Autos through Hyundai Accent to Sri Lankan customers has instilled much, confidence in Korean autos specially in Hyundai vehicles. According to Auto sources the popularity of Hyundai Accent has moved to Hyundai Matrix, the latest model attractive Sedan which is sold by used car importers as well as the local agent of Hyundai Motor Company - Korea-Hyundai Lanka (Pvt.) Ltd. According to the marketing manager of Hyundai Lanka Ltd. Manori Attanayake Jayakody brand new Hyundai auto sales had also increased sharply in the last few months. Autos for any social strata are available with Hyundai Lanka Ltd and at their showroom at Battaramulla. According to the Marketing Manager the Hyundai Tucson four- wheel super luxury vehicle has enamoured the local business class as well as the highly paid private and public sector personalities. "Hyundai engineers have provided Tucson with long distance comfort and performance ingeniously matched with exceptional economy. As relaxed and long legged on the highway it is compact and manoeuvrable in towns and tough when the going gets rough, Tucson adapts effortlessly to fit every lifestyle, said a spokesman for Hyundai Lanka Ltd. Explaining the special characteristics of the medium size Hyundai new adding Matrix Sedan he said, Matrix is the perfect city car that fits right into the busy lifestyle. It doesn't take up much space so it's easy to manoeuvre and park. Matrix makes entry and egress much easier than a conventional Sedan due its high-roof line, he said. Hyundai Sonata - the highly praised super luxury car has been named as the most reliable vehicle in the USA by consumer report published in the USA. Consumer Report in the USA said the data is further establishing Hyundai's remarkable turnaround from one of the least reliable brands to one of the best. USA Consumer Report measures reliability by surveying its subscribers. The magazine collected data on a record 810,000 privately owned or leased vehicles, 20% more than 675,000 vehicles included in last year's survey. |
