P-TOMS : President allays fears From the News Desk President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga spearheads the campaign to head off the protests over the setting up of the Post Tsunami Operational Structure (P-TOMS) creating an awareness among the Maha Sangha, Political Parties, Business Community and the people in a valiant bid to honour her pledge to share the vast fund of resources committed by donors to reconstruct areas devastated by Tsunami. In the light of the JVP defection President Kumaratunga in a satellite address to participants at a rally in Kandy and a face to face encounter with members of the Maha Sangha at the BMICH on Friday elaborated on the key points of P-TOMS to allay the unfounded fears expressed by certain sections who took to the streets claiming that they were in the dark about the contents of the agreement the Government was to sign with the LTTE. In a round up of the reaction of the major political parties across the ethnic divide a clear picture of solidarity is emerging for a wide supportive consensus on the P-TOMS issue.
