No foreign hand drew up TRC Plantations Minister Anura Priyadarshana Yapa participating in a live program on National Rupavahini Friday night rejected the idea that the Tsunami Relief Council (TRC) was something drawn and given by a country or international organisation which favoured the LTTE. He said that it was not even drafted by the Norwegian Government but the Government of Sri Lanka (GOSL). He further said that for the first time in history the Tamil Tigers had accepted the TRC (or by whichever name it is called) was the idea of the GOSL. He questioned the agitating parties `was it not a positive approach in keeping with the democratic process of the country? On the other hand, this was the first occasion, the LTTE has agreed to sign a document accepting the country as the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka. When the ISGA came it was the `Sri Lankan Island'," the Minister pointed out. Minister Yapa also said that the international community praised the Sri Lankan government for preserving the human rights but at the same time, they accused the LTTE of violations of human rights. He said that he was puzzled when some parties were trying to create a bad image of the country with restrictions on tsunami aid to the LTTE controlled areas.
