JVP pull out good -TNA

From Tamil Press by Thava Sajitharan

'By quitting the government, the JVP has proved that it does not deserve to be a part of a government that could bring about betterment to the country. Therefore it's a good thing that the JVP pulled out', said the leaders of the Tamil National Alliance.

They made this comment when asked about their views over JVP's decision on leaving the government. (Virakesari (VK) - 17/06/2005).

New ministers are not to be appointed outright for the portfolios held by the JVP parliamentarians, according to sources close to the President. President Kumaratunga will take over the ministries for the time being. (VK - 17/06/2005).

Qualified youths of the plantation sector, who were assured that they would be provided with employments in the government sector before the end of June, expressed their disappointment and deplored asking if such pledges were mere words as they are yet to be called for the interview albeit due applications have been submitted on time.

Earlier, Plantation and infrastructure Minister Muthusivalingam had vowed that some 1179 youngsters would be appointed as teachers and further 2000 would be placed for the vacancies in the government sector.

He had also proclaimed that no one else other than the Ceylon Workers Congress should claim responsibility for the feat. (VK - 17/06/2005)

A demonstration to condemn the activities of the chauvinists opposing the P-TOMS will be held in Vadamarachi, Jaffna on next Monday. This has been decided in the meeting held between the communities in Nelliyadi. More than 75,000 masses are expected to take part in the demonstration. (Sudar Oli(SOI) - 18/06/2005)

It is learnt that the JVP has given assurance to the Prime Minister that it would not by any means do an activity to topple the government until the next presidential election. While the JVP being entirely dissatisfied with President's activities it strengthens close relationship with the Premier, 'Thinakural' learns. (Thinakural (TK) - 18/06/2005)

In the aftermath of JVP's pull-out from the government, the opposition leader of the central provincial council Vasantha Aluwihara of UNP said that he had held discussions with the CWC general secretary and parliamentarian Arumugan Thondaman to see the feasibilities of forming a new government for the provincial council.
