4 Lankans for Davis Cup in Hong Kong Sri Lanka has picked four players to represent the country at the Davis Cup (Asia/Oceania Zone Group III) to be staged in Hong Kong from July 11 to 17. The Lankans gained promotion after their success in Jordan last year (2004). The four players are: Renouk Wijemanne, Rajiv Rajapakse, Harshana Godamanne and Oshada Wijemanne with Wasantha Wijesekera a Vice-President of the Sri Lanka Tennis Association (SLTA) as manager and India's Enrice Piperno, who coached the Lankans last year too, as coach. Besides Sri Lanka, the other countries who will vie for honours in Hong Kong are: Malaysia, Vietnam, Tajikistan, Bahrain, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and Hong Kong, who were demoted from Group II. Meanwhile, a spokesman for the SLTA, told the Sunday Observer that there are three International Tennis Federation (ITF) Junior International Tournaments scheduled to be staged at the National Tennis Centre (NTC) in Greenpath in October. The Under-14 and Under-18 Junior International will be from October 1 to 9 while the second of the Under-18 tournaments is from October 8 to 16. There is also the US Dollars 10,000 Men's Future's Championship of the ITF scheduled to be staged at the Queen's Club courts from November 26 to December 4, while the 90th National Championship is scheduled for August at the NTC, in Greenpath.
