Degenerating
relationships
by Ayesha Yusuf All over the world today we see the degeneration of man Human relationships are on the downward trend. However it is not man alone, but women too, who have brought about this unwarranted situation, and should take the blame for much of it, and for the way things are going. Recently the I.G.P. called on women not to dress provocatively, whereby they draw attention to themselves. The increasing incidents of rape and connected offences, brought this message from no less a person than the I.G.P. himself, "man created with lust, is drawn to such women, who dress so is not surprising". Whilst men are fully clad, it is unthinkable, that women who should be dressed accordingly, instead reveal more than they conceal. Why do women dress so ? Do they believe that to look beautiful, they can attract attention from the opposite sex. It is up to women to be modest and maintain their dignity, for modesty is the hallmark of a chaste woman. To be fashionable, does not mean to be semi nude, whereby she exposes herself to the vagaries of unwarranted situations. Woman must know her limits if she is to earn the respect and dignity that should be becoming of her. It is plain disgusting to see women semi nude displaying their bodies for public view via the media. Is this not another way of breaking the law that makes obscenity illegal if such a law does exist. Today we see morals being abused, whereby man's lust takes precedence over moral ethics, that should conform to not only the laws of the land but also to Allah's commands. Man has been endowed with the faculty to think and reason and to distinguish right from wrong. What then is it that makes man resort to such acts of moral decadence, that lowers him to that lower than beasts. Freedom of expression via the media should bringforth the best in human beings both man and woman. Being endowed with the ability to comprehend reason, ponder, and reflect, man should know how he must react in situations that bring about the worst relationships with fellow beings be they man or woman ? Why was man created thus ? If he is free to do as he likes, he could, but where does it lead to ? He could, be his actions, that could even lead to debauchery or its likes. Man was created way above all god's other creations, to make him realize how to bring about better morals between man and woman. The freedom to act according to wishes, brings about the worst in human relations. Free mingling of the sexes, leads into illicit relations, that could lead to AIDS, bringing disaster to those afflicted by this, the scourge of the century. |
