Soon a third CD from Jayasri by Mahes Perera
Their big moment was playing at the prestigious Vienna City Festival which drew many international bands on stage. But most of all their happiest moment was when they flew into Paris in May to perform at the Tsunami Aid Concert which was organised by the Negombo Association in France. "It was an unforgettable charity event. Jayasri live in Paris played to a packed house and our hearts expressed in music the emotion and sympathy we had for our people," says Rohitha. Jayasri's lead guitarist/vocalist Aruna one of the original members of the band, has moved out of the band because of family and private commitments and the band has a replacement in Mathias Kouba a final year medical student and an Austrian who has fitted in with the music in a very short time.
In the coming months Jayasri will be performing at the Summer Akadamy Festival in Europe, the Greifenstein Openair, Asian Night and some tours are lined up. The band will be in action in Italy, Germany, South Korea and if all goes well, will be performing in Canada and the States in October-November organised by Entertainment Unlimited Toronto, Canada. Winning the Austrian World Music Award in 2003 was a another feather in Jayasri's cap which has spurred them to work on their third album in the World Music genre. About two or three songs written by their Sri Lankan fans will be included in the CD which is scheduled for release end of this year. Also some video clips are being worked on, directed by the Austrian Franz Algner and these we are told will be on our electronic media soon. Their DVD Jayasri Live in Vienna is now available in music shops. Come December and Jayasri will be back home to meet up with their fans at a show they intend staging. Till then good luck Jayasri! |
