Hambantota gets 5000 houses

by Anura Maitipe

The Government has signed bilateral agreements worth of Rs 3.billion with local and foreign donor agencies to reconstruct 5000 houses for tsunami affected families in the Hambantota District, Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapakse told the Sunday Observer.

Under this program over 700 houses at a cost of Rs. 600,000 each have already been reconstructed and handed over to the affected families.

The balance 4,300 houses are under construction. With the completion of this housing project all tsunami affected families in the district will be provided with new houses, Prime Minister Rajapakse said.

Rs. 82,958,247.70 local and foreign donations for Hambantota Tsunami Relief Fund that had been deposited in the Central Bank account No. 4669 will also be utilised for the long term development of infrastructure facilities in the District, he said. He added that credible politicians with good background would never become so cheap to past mud posters or propagate falsified fact to win elections.

Such forces cannot mislead voters by these sort of third grade propaganda.
