Lanka a good destination for investment Sri Lanka is always a good destination for investment despite minor fluctuations in the macro environment, the Chairman of Telekom Bhd and Dialog Telekom Ltd, Tan Sri Radzi Bin Mansor said. "We have always had the utmost faith in Sri Lanka as an investment destination and have been undeterred by what we regard as minor fluctuations in the macro environment in the country,"Mansor told a ceremony where Dialog Telekom's provisional data was unveiled at its record breaking Initial Public Offering (IPO), which was oversubscribed six-and-a-half times. He said that they have at all times placed their confidence in their customers and the team at Dialog. "We are happy that over 50,000 Sri Lankan citizens as well as many top tier international funds joined us in taking the Dialog story to its next chapter," he said. CEO of Dialog Telekom Dr. Hans Wijayasuriya said that the result of the IPO signifies a tremendous vote of confidence in Sri Lanka as an investment destination and concurrently creates a new dimension for public participation in Sri Lanka's capital market. He said the IPO also drew foreign applications worth over US $ 400 million. Dr. Wijayasuriya said that Dialog has an aggressive capital expenditure program. In 2005 more than US$ 100 million will be disbursed on capital expenditure, which is much higher than the funds intended to be raised via the IPO, he said. (HS) |
