Schols for Lankan students joining Indian School of Business by Hiran H. Senewiratne
The Indian School of Business (ISB) has invited Sri Lankans to join its Post Graduate Program in Management (MBA). Special scholarships are being offered to encourage Sri Lankans to apply to the ISB and every Sri Lankan student admitted this year will be eligible for a scholarship, its Director Admissions V.K. Menon told a media conference on Thursday. He said that these part-scholarships will support the Sri Lankan student to avail the opportunity of studying at the ISB.Once admitted, students may also apply for other scholarships being offered by Citibank, HSBC and Novartis, he said. "We hope that the Sri Lankan students will make the most of the empowering experience at the ISB.The MBA level management program is designed for those who recognise the importance of understanding and competing in a global market," Menon said. Unlike Indian students who have fixed schedules for applications, Sri Lankans and other foreign students may apply anytime between July 1,2005 and January 31 annually, he said. The ISB has a unique model, where visiting faculty from top business schools in the USA, Europe and Asia teach along with resident faculty from India, he said. Menon said that the faculty brings their knowledge of new management trends and the latest research findings to the students makes the curriculum both current and relevant. The Director-Admissions said that like other business schools, the ISB admits mature students who have worked in a business environment for a minimum of two years. The ISB also ensures that its student group is diverse, bringing in a variety of work and education backgrounds, he said. The eligibility criteria for candidates are graduate degree or any stream; professional qualifications such as CIMA, ACCA, CIM are also considered for evaluation, standardised test (GMAT/GRE), work experience, leadership potential, two recommendation letters from the place of work and performance in the interview. |
