Police strike vice dens by Jayampathy Jayasinghe Three women were arrested following a raid on a guest house at Walana, Panadura last Friday by the Central Anti-Vice Striking Force. The Manager of the guest house has been procuring women to prosperous businessmen in Moratuwa and Panadura areas. The Central Anti-Vice Striking Force had raided the place after obtaining a warrant from the Panadura Magistrate. According to OIC Central Anti-Vice Striking Force, Inspector Vijitha Perera the three women taken into custody were from Moratuwa, Embilipitiya and Middeniya who have been lured into prostitution. The three women between the ages of 20 to 30 years were to be produced before the Panadura Magistrate. According to Inspector Perera, the newly opened guest house has been providing women only to a selected few businessmen. Two employees of the guest house were also taken into custody. In a separate raid at a boutique in Hemanthagama, Mawanella, police found 5000 packets of counterfeit cigarettes which were handed over to the Mawanella police to be produced in court. The Vice Squad also recovered 50 obscene VCD cassettes from a shop at Kurunegala which were handed over to Kurunegala police. |
