Toyota Prado - a pleasure to drive

Toyota - Land Cruiser - Prado makes driving a pleasure.

According to Toyota Lanka Limited, the Toyota - Land Cruiser - Prado gained immense popularity among the highest strata of the Sri Lankan society. The first selection of a superior advanced luxury vehicle, the first choice, at present, is Toyota Prado.

The increase in Toyota - Prado sales during the last few months bears ample testimony.

The smoothness of the Prado's on-road performance rivals its tough off-road capabilities. The exceptional driving performance and comfort bring a new dimension in luxury driving.

The Prado is available with a gasoline or diesel engines to suit the customer's lifestyle.

The excellent stability control, comfort and noise and vibration damping of the Prado are based on a newly developed platform.

The placement of the rack and pinion steering gear at the front of the front axle is an added advantage. The rear shock absorbers is towards the outside of the frame. It provides outstanding driving performance.

The Prado's rigidity is in the top level for its class. It is the product of the use of Computer Aided Engineering (CAE) and high tensile steel sheeting, and the optimum placement of reinforcement to optimise rigidity while minimising weight.

The Prado's off-road heritage is evident in its excellent ground clearance and high approach and departure angles. Together with outstanding hill-climbing performance, excellent maximum tolerable roll-over angle and good fording capabilities contribute to the outstanding all-round off-road performance in difficult conditions.

The Prado incorporates a number of advanced safety measures to help avoid accidents. They include active driving control systems that help to optimise the basic elements of driving operation, especially during an emergency manoeuvre.

The Prado's comprehensive passive safety measures begin with a crash safety body. Inside the high integrity cabin, primary occupant restrain is provided by three point seatbelts, including the centre seats in the second and third rows. A head impact protection structure is also incorporated.The Prado's front and second row seats can be laid fully flat. A one touch tumble mechanism on the 60/40 split second row seats enables to fold them up quickly, giving either easy access to the third row seats or creating luggage space.

To create extra space the third row seats can be folded up to the side or removed and the centre seat headrest stowed in the back of the right out board sealback.

Three-door Prado

The three door-Prado has the same performance and contemporary comfort as the five door Prado.

It has a sharp sporty edge to the styling and an extra nimbleness to handling.

Yamaha - G5 targets youth

The latest arrival to the Yamaha Motor Cycle range is the Yamaha Libero G5. G5, the fifth generation of the Libero model is considered the advanced and developed models to-date by Yamaha Libero mechanism.

G5 comes with attractive duo-tone colours of blue-silver, yellow-black, red-silver and black-silver combinations.

Yamaha - G5 front cowl gives a novel appearance due to the new design spacious seat design and clear tail lens and indicators are the innovative features of Yamaha G5.

Yamaha, the local importer and distributor AMW said the Yamaha G5 may capture the young eye quickly so its "styled for their style". The Yamaha-G5 high performance engine is air cooled, four stroke SOHC and two valve and it has kick starter facility. "The moment the engine starts, you feel the pulse of excitement.

As you start to ride, you are gripped by an elated feeling.

Yamaha-Fazer

One of the most popular Yamaha models among youth in Sri Lanka is the Yamaha Fazer. The Get Going Fazer theme is "ride into the new phase".

Hyundai HED-1 unveiled

Future oriented, multi purpose concept car - HED-1 was unveiled at the New Grandeur 2005 Geneva Auto Show, one of the five biggest international motor shows in Switzerland recently.

HED-1, a concept car designed at the Hyundai R&D centre in Europe is a compact, tour-passenger multi purpose vehicle well suited to the tastes of Europeans.

To appeal to female drivers, in particular the car also includes a luxurious design-innovative interior controls and unique and individual specifications.

Mounted with a 1600 cc diesel engine HED-1 , it features luxury and passenger safety with the application of LED lamps, a multi function tailgate, and curtain-knee airbags, as well as a safety car body that helps prevent injury to pedestrians.

With its debut, the concept car has provided the momentum for a new concept movement that will encourage full-scale advancement of the Hyundai name into the compact car market in Europe.

Porsche opens state-of-the-art showroom

The penultimate Wednesday in August, 2005 turned out to be a red letter day for both the manufacturer of the renowned Porsche sports cars as well as for the nearly thirty families off the coastline of Weligama.

Porsche in conjunction with Eurocars Ltd., the official importer in Sri Lanka opened the state-of-the-art Porsche Showroom at Peliyagoda. Incorporating the Porsche corporate design, it features the most impressive architectural features.

Officials from Porsche and their local importers were present. The Chief Guest on the occasion was Hans Riedel, Executive Vice President Sales and Marketing, Porsche.

Porsche had just that morning laid the foundation to build houses for 28 families living in Weligama.

The region faced some of the worst of the devastation caused by the tidal wave disaster towards the end of last year. Porsche will donate Euro 1,000,000 for projects to three countries hit by the deadly tsunami.

The projects will be identified by the local Porsche members who are most aware of the ground situation know where such funds are most needed.

Porsche has allocated Euro 330,000 towards Sri Lankan tsunami victims, Euro 270,000 of which will be utilised in the construction of new homes. The balance will be used to provide medium term relief to three-hundred children who have lost either or both their parents.

The youngsters will be paid a monthly allowance of US$ 20 (Rs. 2,000), to cover the cost of their food, clothing and education, for three years.

The number of children will depend on the amount remaining on completion of the housing project and will take place under the guidance of the National Child Protection Authority.

Since the presentation of the ingenious designs of the then engineer cum test driver Prof. Ferdinand Porsche and the birth of the very first sports car - based on Volkswagen parts, the Roadster was made of light metal - bearing the name Porsche under the direction of Ferry Porsche, the former exclusive sports car company which has come a long way. The internalisation of the company - expanding which the Asian, Middle East and Latin American Markets - together with its innovative design and amazing technology has led Porsche on to a path of success.

The third model line of Porsche, the Cayenne has been significant in its success in the Asia-Pacific region as well as heralding the ascendance of the SUV market.

The new, fourth model series called Panamera is now being developed.

The premium class sports car with four seats and four doors is set to is now being developed hit the market in 2009.

Porsche an automobile brand caters more to the youth and the young at heart.

Yet it also has the distinction of a long and fulfilling tradition in the automobile manufacturing industry.

Their goal is the car of the future, incorporating the values of the past with the unknown challenges of the future.
