The North Sumatra Late Governor Rizal Nurdin passed away on Sep. 05 in a plane crash at the Polonia Airport, Indonesia.

He was one of the victims among 142 killed in the crash. Matale Mayor Hilmy Mohamed told 'Sunday Observer' that he was due to visit Sri Lanka this December and had also agreed to assist to develop the Central Province (CP).

The Matale Mayor further said that the CP Governor Monty Gopallawa had also consented to North Sumatra and CP to work as twin regions.
