Singapore win Asian Netball title Singapore beat Malaysia by 53 goals to 39 after leading 28-21 at half time to emerge champions at the 6th Asian Netball Championships at the Toa Payoh Sports Hall in Singapore yesterday. This is the first occasion that Singapore have won this title and have now qualified to play in the Commonwealth Games in Melbourne, Australia in March next year (2006). In the play-off for the third place, last year's champions Sri Lanka beat Thailand by 81 goals to 36 after leading 47-11 at half time. The final placing are as follows:- (1) Singapore, (2) Malaysia, (3) Sri Lanka, (4) Thailand, (5) Maldive Island, (6) Hong Kong, (7) India. |
