CMM extends
professional assistance
Company of Master Mariners of Sri Lanka (CMM) a professional organisation of certified Class 1 Master Mariners (commonly known as Ship Captains) of Sri Lanka was formed in 1992 on similar lines as the Company of Master Mariners of UK, Australia, and India. The CMM has strived over the years to harness the professional inputs of Master Mariners whilst endeavouring to serve the marine community in particular, and shipping industry in general. CMM has been organising meetings of members. Social gatherings, seminars and lectures, sports events, charity events, etc. In-house publication, eight bells is published quarterly and distributed amongst the membership. CMM has its own web site. www.cmmsrilanka.com. Annual diary produced by CMM is one of the most used diaries in the shipping industry. The member interaction in an organised manner has been maintaining the coherence of the organisation. CMM is also a member of the Organisation of Professional Associations of Sri Lanka (OPA). This year more emphasis has been placed to further develop the professional outlook and render assistance to any recognised body in Sri Lanka especially the government appointed committee which needs professional input relating to marine shipping industry. So that inherent professional, valued knowledge base, it possesses could be made available to where it could be used. Entailing the vision of the CMM, five main committees have been appointed to develop CMM activities towards the progress of the association, profession, marine community and the industry. The activities and the progress of these committees will be made known to the relevant interested parties mainly via the media in future. |
