A Muslim enters fray

by Jayantha Sri Nissanka

Seven Muslim political parties have formed the Muslim National Alliance' (MNA) and decided to nominate one of their members to contest the forthcoming Presidential Election.

The MNA has nominated Democratic Unity Alliance (DUA) leader Nazeer Ahamed as their candidate.

When asked about their strength Ahamed said that the DUA was formed recently and one of their candidates got elected to the Western Provincial Council. "This is a victory for us because our party was not even one year old when we got a member elected to the Western Provincial Council," he noted.

When asked how many votes he can secure, Ahamed said at least 300,000 votes.
