Station yourself ha!

by Umangi de Mel

Wanna look like a star ontta fashion magazine? Gilded and glamorous? Well, get to know your skin and its requirements first....

Why not indulge a little and get a facial or a complete beauty treatment... afterall the surface shine needs a bit of TLC in order to make it glow and who knows, yours might be the next in the beauty ads...

- The name 'Cutting Station' has been a result of all their interior decor which is mostly railway sleepers.

Talking about beauty and skin care, Yohan Peiris of Cutting Station says it's important to evaluate the skin type first.

As most of us take it for granted until we take a closer look in the mirror and let out a gasp of horror and rush out for a quick remedy.

Yohan says it's always better to consult a beautician, "Because sometimes we may think we've got dry skin when it actually may be a combination skin. After assessing the skin type, you can select the type of treatment if it's a problematic skin." He points out that using the wrong product could be harmful to the skin, as well.

The basic thing is to have a normal clean up or a facial, he says.

"A facial deep cleanses the face and takes off the unnecessary particles of the upper layer of the skin. It also treats your skin to whatever problem you have. A 'clean up' is similar, but it doesn't offer a massage at the end."

Zits could be a result of an improper facial or a clean up, he says adding that it's very important to use good products, "If you've got a problematic skin, you either do a treatment to solve the problem or do a clean up which is not as rich as the facial. But it's important to find the problem and its cause," Yohan advices.

A few treatments for skin -

Acne treatment - controls and treats the acne.

Vitamin C treatment - Gives an instant glow in your skin.

Treatment for Dehydrated skin - Oxygenates and puts back the moisture into your skin.

Whitening treatment - It lightens the pigments in your skin.

Anti-wrinkles - Reduces the wrinkles by pumping up the dead muscles inside.

Eye treatment - Reduces the puffiness and dark circles.

These must be followed up by home care which is recommended by the beauticians, points out Yohan.

Healthy skin doesn't solely depend on cosmetics and beauty treatments but according to Yohan, it depends on the diet that one takes. He advices that the correct kind of food and avoid certain food that could cause skin problems. "Vitamins are also very important irrespective of a balanced diet," he says.

Talking about scars and marks, Yohan reveals that it's difficult to remove. It all depends on what they're due to. You've got to be very careful with scars and marks.

Yohan says that the much feared black heads and white heads are mostly particles of dust that collect in the pores, "Some people can have more than others. They keep coming back even if you remove. Regular clean ups may help, though."

Warts are mostly fat deposits which could be burnt off, he says. A lot of girls find facial hair a real botheration, but Yohan says it's just a matter of removing them on a regular basis, "Or you could bleach it. Bleaching is very mild but if you've got a sensitive skin, it's better to avoid it."

Cutting Station, also offers treatments like nail sculpture, Gel, acrylic nails and nail art. They've again introduced reflexology and Aromatherapy. Their latest Station is opened at the Waters Edge Golf Course and Country Club.

"The Cutting Station" was a dream put on the rail track by the main stationmaster himself Johann Peries. The main station was estbalished in October 1999 at Jawatte Road, Colombo 05, with a staff of 3. Since then "The Cutting Station" has grown to be one of the most talked about Salons in Colombo.
