Talking point :

Alleged rapist ties knot on green candidate

Disappointed with the people for defeating him in 13 elections since 1994, the green candidate has kept more faith in gods than in people this time and has decided to offer poojas and make vows to gods of any faith and receive their blessings.

Although the JHU got him an early Presidential election, his strong belief could be that the Janabala Meheyuma launched at Kataragama had much influence in calling for early elections and this belief has compelled him to visit Kataragama often.

Anyway, on his way to Kataragama on Friday, he made a stop-over at Sri Vishnu Devalaya in Devundera. To his great pleasure, a Buddhist monk from Getamanne was there and tied a pirith noola on the candidate.

The monk was none other than the suspect known for immorality after he was arrested recently for allegedly molesting an under-aged girl. The god inside was probably shocked to witness the monk with guilt scars on his robe now on bail not only polluting his abode but also trespassing the premises to approach the devotee may be with ulterior motives to escape from the crime if the devotee is elected to the highest office.

Not only gods but the people too can well remember that this devotee had a soft corner for criminals such as Gonawala Sunil, and interfered in getting the latter released from remand when he was serving as a Minister in JR's Cabinet in 1980s.

It is well known that Gonawala Sunil was in remand for molesting a handicapped girl. Gods get angry when wrong doers act against the world order and punish them. When people get angry, no doubt they will send politicians home.
