More crossovers expected

It appears that Deputy Minister and Vice President of the Ceylon Workers' Congress (CWC) is likely to crossover to Sri Lanka Muslim Congress (SLMC) very soon. While the two other members of the CWC who were holding portfolios in the government have resigned from their position following the party's decision to back UNP leader Ranil Wickremesinghe in the upcoming presidential election. Fizal Mustafa has refused to give up his portfolio. (Thinakural - 17/10)

The Hindu Cultural Ministry has vehemently condemned Hindu priests and patrons of Hindu Temples being assailed and murdered. The ministry has said that the barbaric act of killing religious leaders who guide the society could not be tolerated. (TK - 17/10)

'Tamils and Muslims residing in Passara and Lunugala divisions have been completely neglected in the distribution of roofing sheets by the respective divisional secretariats. Therefore actions should be taken to distribute the remaining sheets among the two communities,' said the Pasara Pradeseehya Sabha member S. Anthonysamy. (TK - 17/10)

'Generally Presidential candidates all around the world present their party's manifesto. But Mahinda Rajapakse does not contest on his party's manifesto. He contests on a manifesto that is named after himself'. 'He has affirmed that he would find solution to the ethnic crisis under unitary structure.
