Toyota Lanka (Pvt.) Limited which celebrates its tenth anniversary next week is planning to strengthen its activities in the coming years.

The Japanese Ambassador in Sri Lanka Akio Suda will be the chief guest at the main function at the Colombo Hilton on November 11. Kenji Takanashi, Director, Toyota Tsusho Corporation in Japan and Takashi Suda, Project General Manager of Toyota Motor Company in Japan will arrive in Sri Lanka to attend the anniversary celebrations.

At present Toyota Lanka Ltd. enjoys a market share of 40 per cent of the brand new Japanese vehicle sales market in Sri Lanka. At the inception in 1995 when Toyota Lanka Ltd was incorporated as a company in Sri Lanka, the market share was between 10-15 per cent.

Toyota Lanka Ltd, a hundred percent Japanese owned company in Sri Lanka is owned by Toyota Tsusho Corporation in Japan.

Toyota Lanka Ltd is the No. 1, brand new vehicle importer from Japan and all types of vehicles including cars, vans, trucks and buses were imported from Japan during the last ten years.

Nobuhiko Kato, the Managing Director of Toyota Lanka Ltd. told the Sunday Observer that Toyota Lanka Ltd. always respects and works according to the Toyota philosophy. Respect for people and continuous improvement of every operation are the main features of Toyota's philosophy. He said that Toyota Lanka Ltd. pays heed to the customer's opinion.

The anniversary celebrations will be used to share the experiences with their esteemed customers. The Toyota Plaza set up in Wattala in 1998 over one acre of land provides Toyota customers three 'S' facilities namely sales, service and spare parts, under one roof.

With the assistance of the highly trained staff Toyota Plaza provides an excellent service to customers.

According to the Managing Director the main market of his company is the sale of brand new Japanese cars.

Toyota Corolla, the most popular car in its segment in the world, is very popular in the brand new car market in Sri Lanka, specially in the corporate sector and also among Toyota lovers.

"We intend introducing the brand new small passenger car of one thousand cc, a one litre car to the Sri Lankan market in the near future. Toyota-Kiroska, a ninety nine per cent Japanese owned company in India and Toyota Corporation in Japan reached a decision recently to introduce the Toyota Kiroska - one litre cars to the Sri Lankan market", he said.

Toyota Lanka has identified the high popularity of the one litre cars among Sri Lankans and this decision also confirms the Toyota philosophy of respecting the opinion of the people. Spare parts and the after sales service activities also will be strengthened according to the demand of Toyota customers.

The workshop at the Toyota Plaza in Wattala is well equipped with special service tools and does a professional job for customers. The foreign trained technicians and Lexus special tools are remarkable features of the Toyota workshop.

Toyota believes in the lifetime customer concept.

The Toyota Land Cruiser Club and the activities related to the environment protection federation with the Wildlife Conservation Department are some of the steps taken by Toyota Lanka to be consistent with good customer relationship activities.
