Microimage wins top ICT award for 2005

Microimage won three Gold awards including the Overall Best Product Gold at the BCS National Best Quality Software Awards ceremony at Waters Edge recently.

Microimage won the gold award in the "Communications Application" category, and won the Sri Lanka Telecom Special Award - the gold in the "Best Overall Product" category. Microimage thus earned the right to enter its "mobile messaging and browser" product in the Asia Pacific ICT Awards (APICTA), to be held in Bali, Indonesia this year.

"We are extremely thrilled to hit the top with our product/platform for localisation of mobile phones to support messaging and content browsing which was a result of years of R&D and hard work.

And further it's a tremendous feeling to achieve this at a time when we celebrate our 10th anniversary since incorporation" said Harsha Purasinghe CEO of Microimage. Microimage was founded in 1993 by a group of A-level students who were passionate about innovating new technology and software solutions.

Incorporated in 1995, it now has a staff of 40 at its Development Centre and Corporate Office in Colombo, with its own branch operation in Bangladesh, and business partners in several regional countries, to represent its products. From humble beginnings as a provider of desktop local language software, the company has become a leading technology innovator and enterprise software solutions provider.

"We are grateful to our business partners mainly Dialog Telkom and its senior management who has given tremendous support by launching these mobile software products commercially and facilitating us to take our R&D work to the next level. Also the support extended by mobile operators such as Celltel Lanka Limited and Dhiraagu Telecom of Maldives was a great strength" Purasinghe said.

The company's key clients include Dialog Telkom, Dhiraagu Telecom of Maldives, Celltel Lanka Limited, Lanka Bell, HSBC Bank, DFCC Bank, Hemas Holdings, MAS Holdings/Sara Lee, Cargills, Royal Ceramics, Hirdaramani Group, Expo Lanka Group, Sri Lanka Telecom, FDK Corporation, ABC Radio Networks and Government Institutions.
