A gutty experience

October 01st was a hive of activity at the Mount Lavinia beach, almost 150 gutty males and females were ready to put there nerves at test by taking part in adventure challenge race set up by shehan pilapitiya and his team from Adventure Base Camp Kithulgala.

As the course director shehan laid out a challenging event for the day, as he wanted everybody to accept and take part in it, was tough and it was possible to do it too.

The race consisted of a typical Military type obstacle course set out on the beach with a lot of running and crawling and the second stage came when they had to take part in the high rope, assault climb and flying fox activities. A lot of cheering was seen and heard from the teams and the spectators who were there to see this international sport been now done very professionally in Sri Lanka.

Each team consisted of four boys and two girls and there was an all girls team who raced till the end. The climax for this race began days prior to the event, with teams running around Galle face green searching for clues and to gain points for their team. After all the excitement the grand finale came at sundown with prize giving ceremony and dinner, challenge seekers who became competitors were seen as friends end of the day, this is what its all about !!!

Adventure challenge races are becoming very popular in Sri Lanka and we have been chosen to conduct many more in the future. Base Camp Crew are professionally trained in what they do and in medical and first aid, they have there own back up medical team.

Many of these lads are White Water Rafting guides who have an all round experience of adventure sports.

Shehan and his crew also are professionally conducting Team building programmes for the corporate sector in his camp site, Mountain biking, River rafting in many senior grade rivers where others dare to go, River expeditions with overnight camping, Rock sliding, jungle and river trekking are some of the activities they have on offer.

A fully fledged camp site is been run at Kithulgala with accommodation in tents for the adventure and leisure clients who want all in one location in a short time.
