President for righteous rule President Mahinda Rajapakse told Parliament that his Government would implement the Rule of Law to shape a disciplined society without allowing anyone to violate it misusing privileges, political powers and financial clout. "We will give priority to stamp out bribery and corruption and empower new agencies to handle these issues", the President said. He plans to introduce reforms to change bureaucratic attitudes and make the state administrative service a vibrant public service. President Rajapakse plans to run all ministries, departments, corporations and boards with tight budgets to cut down unnecessary expenditure. New technology will be infused to improve human resources in order to increase productivity in the public sector. Law enforcement agencies like Police, Judiciary, and Prisons will be improved with better facilities and a process of broad legal reforms will be introduced to ensure efficiency and transparency in the criminal justice system. "All these will aim at making my Government to follow a strong policy of righteous rule", he noted. |
