Relief for motorists on T. B. Jayah road

By M. P. Muttiah

Colombo's Deputy Mayor M. Azath S.Salley told the Sunday Observer that a section of T.B. Jayah Mawatha opposite New Olympia would be opened for traffic today to ease the congestion on Maradana Road. It was closed for traffic to Maradana from Gamini Hall roundabout a month ago. A severe leak on the sewer line that runs beneath caused the collapse. Underneath a sewer line was constructed by a foreign company several years ago.

The officials of that company who are attached to the National Water Supply and Drainage Board, inspected the area but could not detect the leak. Salley said a CCT camera used specially to detect leaks in sewers had to be brought from abroad. When it arrives a permanent solution would be found.
