Observer staffer wins Best Health Journalist Award Shanika Sriyananda of the Sunday Observer has been awarded the 'Best Health Journalist Award' (English medium), for her contributions to health journalism, by the Sri Lanka Medical Association (SLMA). She also won the Best Science Writer Award twice awarded by the Sri Lanka Association for the Advancement of Science (SLAAS) and also a Merit Award from the Editor's Guild for her reporting on environmental issues. A past student of St. Paul's Girls' School Milagiriya, Colombo she has a Diploma in Journalism from the University of Sri Jayawardenapura. She was the author of Kotupuwre gehanu, a research on female prisoners in the Welikada Prison. |
