Evening Standard regrets: Windsor Castle story not true

Evening Standard, London which earlier alleged on December 1, 2005 that President Chandrika Bandaranaike Kumaratunga had bought the castle of the Duke of Windsor has later corrected it on December 8 saying the story was not true, according to Piyasena Dissanayake, Secretary to President Kumaratunga.

Doug Wills, Managing Editor of the Evening Standard, London has sent a letter expressing his regret to President Kumaratunga and informing her that their article on the house of the Duke of Windsor was not true.

President Kumaratunga denied the story when Sri Lankan newspapers reproduced it.
