Dialog Telekom matches donations 1 for 1 for children in need

Colombo, 16 December 2005. Dialog Telekom, Sri Lankan's fastest growing telecommunications company launched a seasonal campaign - "Share In the Joy a Toy Gives" - in collaboration with UNICEF.

This campaign with a difference appeals to Sri Lankans all over the island to donate a brand new, non-violent toy to orphaned, underprivileged, differently-abled and tsunami affected children between the ages of 5 and 10 years. The key feature of the project is that every toy collected will be matched 1 for 1 by Dialog Telekom. The ultimate aim is to reach out to as many children as possible from regions islandwide.

General Manager, Sales and Marketing at Dialog Telekom Nushad Perera said, "There is nothing that can give them more joy. Dialog will match every donation made, effectively doubling the number of toys and thereby the number of children who can benefit from this effort."

The company stresses that the toys must be new and non-offensive and request donors to refrain from donating toy guns, swords, bows and arrows or any toys that are indicative of war and conflict.

UNICEF recommended toys include board games, books, sports equipment, colouring and drawing materials, group/interactive toys, dolls and teddy bears.
