State Bank of India goes to Kandy The State Bank of India (SBl) branch in Kandy was opened by Chief Minister of the Central Province Sarath Ekanayake. Mayor of Kandy Kesara D. Senanayake and Chairman, Central Provincial Council W. M. Yasamana were the guests of honour. A. K. Purwar Chairman, A. G. Kalamankar, Deputy and Managing Director and Vinay Jain, Country Manager and other senior officers of the State Bank of India welcomed the guests. Assistant High Commissioner of India Rajan Pillai was also present. The Chief Minister who emphasized the historical links between the two countries said that SBI is one of the oldest banks serving in Sri Lanka since 1864. The Mayor of Kandy said that he was pleased that the State Bank of India has chosen to open a branch in Kandy and traders and businessmen of Kandy will no doubt welcome SBI which offers unparalleled quality in their services. SBI Chairman A. K. Purwar, said that the SBI plans to offer a wide range of products, both fund-based and non fun-based, aimed at corporates and individuals. He said that the ATM facility will be provided at the Kandy branch within the next few months. |
