Red Hat's technology made easily accessible

Red Hat, the world's leading open-source solutions and Linux provider is making high quality, low cost technology accessible. Red Hat also provides operating systems, software applications and management solutions,said Red Hat Vice President Berry Duplantis told a media conference held at the Hotel Continental, Colombo recently.

Duplantis said that the company had been offering support,training and consultation services to its customers worldwide and through top-tier partnerships.

He said that company's Open Source Strategy would offer customers a long-term plan for building infrastructure which would be based on an Leverage Open Sources technologies with focus on security.

He also said that Red Hat had widespread representation in seven locations in India and Sri Lanka as the company had been experiencing more than 100 per cent growth over the last two years. He said that Red Hat training facilities and partners had produced over 5,000 Red Hat certified engineers and technicians.

Red Hat Business Manager (Sri Lanka) Amal R. Dias said that Red Hat had acquired a joint venture in India and the company plan to contribute more resources to further realise the potential of the Open Source. He pointed out that the acquisition was important to Red Hat as India had emerged as the fastest growing country for the company in the Asia Pacific.

He said that to accelerate this growth,Red Hat had decided to invest 20 million US dollars in India over the coming years.

Referring to Tsunami relief work,Dias said that Red Hat was instrumental in proper co-ordination of tsunami relief work in Negombo and Kalmunai where Red Hat offered assistance to both NGOs and the government. He said that two housing projects for the tsunami-affected in these areas were in progress and added that by mid 2006 they would be ready for occupation.
