Commemorative program at Peraliya

A special commemorative program will be held at Peraliya, Hikkaduwa, tomorrow morning under the patronage of President Mahinda Rajapakse in remembrance of those who lost their lives in the Tsunami disaster.

The government has planned this ceremony to mark the launching of Jayalanka program to accelerate the rehabilitation of the victims displaced by Tsunami. Under this program religious observances of all faiths will be conducted at Peraliya and throughout the island.

Four new stamps will be issued to mark the Tsunami anniversary, and two- minute silence will be observed at 9.30 a.m.islandwide.

President Mahinda Rajapakse will address the nation from Peraliya at 9.43 am.

The National flag will fly half mast tomorrow.

Prime Minister Ratnasiri Wickramanayake, Ministers, Deputy ministers, Chief Minister of the Southern Province and several others will participate at the ceremony.
