Weather mainly dry by Elmo Leonard No severe wet weather conditions are expected during the weekend, the met man said. It is also likely that the nights will be cool. During this part of the year, the cool nights result from cloudless skies, when the heat of the day is radiated out of the atmosphere. But these conditions may not last long, Meteorogical Department Deputy Director, Sunil Kariyawasam said. During the week ahead, occasional night showers are very likely and even spells of wet days. The North-East monsoon began around December 13 or 14, which means that the western half of the country should be dry. But, the frequent wet conditions experienced in the western half of the island during the past month was due to disturbances in the Bay of Bengal and such disturbances are likely to continue for some time. |
