SLASA to challenge SLAS

Sri Lanka Accountants' Service Association (SLASA) would challenge the Sri Lanka Administrative Service (SLAS) over a special gazette notification which gives more opportunities in the higher posts of the public sector, only for SLAS officers.

SLASA Senior Vice President Thilak Keragala told the Sunday Observer that there are a number of parallel services to the SLAS which draw similar salaries without having any special grades. "However the recent gazette notification has created a special grade for SLAS officers preventing other parallel service officers to apply higher posts in the public sector, Keragala said.

He further said that they have already filed a fundamental rights case and would be taking trade union action against the move.

He also added that Sri Lanka Plan Implementation Service, Sri Lanka Engineering Service, Sri Lanka Agriculture Service, Sri Lanka Animal Products and Health Service and several other services have joined them to act against the recent gazette notification.
