by Thava Sajitharan

The Indian Textile Show, organised by the Synthetic and Rayon Textiles Export Promotion Council of India (SRTEPC) in association with the Indian High Commission was held at the BMICH from January 11 to 12.

The Textile show which was described as a 'landmark that will further strengthen the business relationship between Sri Lanka and India' was conducted in Colombo for the fourth time. Indian High Commissioner Nirupama Rao, the chief guest opened the show on January 11. Over 25 Indian companies, from India exhibited raw materials.

After lighting the oil lamp Nirupama Rao said the heightened business relationship between Sri Lanka and India has been lit with the commencement of the textile show. "Better business cooperation between the two nations burns very strongly on occasions such as this", she said.

Sanjeev Saran, former chairman of SRTEPC, said the Indian Textile show had created a big global demand and India is the closest and most convenient supplier for Sri Lanka. Together, we can offer to the world good products, he said.
