More wet weather

by Elmo Leonard

If you live in the Eastern, Uva and Southern parts of the island, expect scattered showers today, a spokesman for the Meteorological Department said.

For the North, Central Provinces and Hambantota district, occasional showers could be expected throughout the day. In other parts of the island the norm will be afternoon thunder showers.

The whole island was cloudy, during the past few days due to a depression in the Arabian Sea, 600 kilometres west of Sri Lanka. But, tomorrow, the effect of the depression will wane; cloudy skies, especially in the west will be replaced with blue skies, in most parts of the country.

On Monday, however, eastern parts of the island will continue to be cloudy and evening showers will continue in the Sabaragamuwa province.
